Austin Town Hall Farmers Market (ATHFM) is a farmers’ market in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. We are located outside the Austin Town Hall Park, 5610 W. Lake St Chicago, IL 60644.
Our objective is to create access to fresh produce, support the local economy by purchasing from food artisans and other businesses.
Austin Town Hall Farmers Market is an initiative of Austin Coming Together and their strategic partners and City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE).
Our Vision: To create access for residents to patronize farms and local business owners by purchasing fresh, locally grown produce, prepared foods, baked goods, artisanal items, vegan, and value-added products.
Our Mission: To bring the community a vibrant shopping experience where residents can access healthy food, build bonds with neighbors, and enjoy time outdoors. We strive to include in our market items that are original, handmade, unique, and designed or produced locally.
The Austin Town Hall Farmers Market is an outdoor market located in Austin Town Hall Park 5610 West Lake Street, Chicago, IL 60644.
You can access the farmers market by public transportation. If you plan to arrive by bus, the CTA 85 Central bus has a convenient stop at Central/Lake. Arriving by train is easy too; get off at the Central stop on the CTA Green Line.
If you plan to drive, there is free parking available along Lake Street.
April 2012 Mayor Rahm Emmanuel announced 5 new Westside Markets. These markets will be located in areas that have limited grocery options, known as food deserts. The sites are near public transportation and will accept LINK cards.
This market has changed operational hands a few times since its inception. In 2020 Forty Acres Fresh Market took over market operations with a commitment to invest in its growth and expansion. In April 2023, the market’s first full-time year-round Market Manager was hired. The managers sole purpose is to curate a market that addresses the needs and wants expressed from the area residents. Also to create a space that builds on community while providing programming for all ages.
2024 our name has changed from the Austin Town Hall City Market to the Austin Town Hall Farmers Market per the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) as our status has changed to a community partner.
The Austin Town Hall Farmers Market is proud be a member of the Chicago Farmers Market Collective and the Illinois Farmers Market Association (ILFMA).
Our farmers market is sponsored in partnership with Austin Fresh, City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), and Link Up Illinois. We are grateful for all their support and collaboration to sustain this incredible market.
